On this edition of 30 on 3D, Senior R&D Engineer, Peter Montgomery, explains how to add a fillet or a radius to an STL file in Materialise Magics.

Prior to this capability being released, the process of adding a radius to an STL file was labor intensive. Now, the process is simple.

To start, load your part into Magics. Once your part is opened, select “Fillet” from the “Tools” tab. In the fillet pop-up, you can adjust the radius and tolerance. After you’ve indicated the edges the fillet will be applied to, select “Apply.”

You will then see a radius applied to the part, making it ready to 3D print. If you’d like to know more about your software options, contact our team by phone at 949.474.9222 or by email at ask@purpleplatypus.com.
