Ever wonder what it would be like to work in a tech-related field, or more specifically, in the world of 3D printing? Are you eager to learn more about the future of manufacturing and product development?
Those were just the thoughts and enthusiasm of both Hunter and Skylar before they joined our internship program this past summer.
Here at Purple Platypus, we believe in shaping our youth’s future, whether they aspire to be entrepreneurs, designers, engineers, technicians, marketers, or sales professionals. Summer internship programs have opened up incredible opportunities for students to not only receive course credit, but also build professional connections, gain hands-on experience, and to prepare themselves for future employment. Hunter and Skylar were both able to interact with fellow employees on a daily basis, including the management team, and were able to contribute their hard work and ideas into their assigned projects each week.
Hunter, a college student studying Business Marketing at Concordia University, has been an excellent asset to our marketing and sales departments. Part of understanding the crucial role of marketing is to understand the sales process. Hunter learned first-hand from shadowing our sales engineers and supporting the team with follow up calls and emails to potential customers. He also contributed to our event marketing team, distributing invitations and assisting with tradeshow booth set-up and break down.
Skylar, a high school student in Orange County, has also made a wonderful contribution to our marketing team, from assisting with event planning, to processing our direct mailers, and even maintaining our marketing product inventory. She also contributed specifically to researching local events and gathering data to determine if an event would be beneficial to us, and our clients, if we participated in an exhibition.
Through this experience, both Hunter and Skylar were able to enhance their computer skills in Outlook and Excel, strengthen their communication skills in a fast-pace environment, and develop a professional business mindset that we hope will set the bar for their future endeavors.
We want to thank our summer interns for their contribution to our business and the successful completion of our summer internship program.
